New England Free Range
& Moore Pullets

While most people only see the egg carton in the supermarket, there’s an enormous amount of work that happens long before the eggs get there.

Every day starts early.

There are hens to care for, eggs to collect and grade, staff to manage, retailers and wholesalers to supply, and the next generation of pullets to raise.

Somewhere in amongst it all, Jo and Tom are also raising a young family.

Like most family farming businesses, there’s always another job waiting.

For Jo and Tom Moore, that’s where their time has always been best spent; building a quality business, looking after their customer, producing free-range eggs and raising pullets that they’re proud to put their name to.

As the business continued to grow, they recognised their social media marketing wasn’t telling the same story as the work happening behind the scenes.

As Jo explains:

“To run social media effectively it’s not just taking a photo and posting it.

There is so much to learn and it’s an ever-moving target.

As business owners, neither of us had the desire or know-how to run our own social media accounts successfully to encourage new customers or further develop our current business relationships.”

Rather than trying to become marketing experts themselves, they decided to focus on what they do best and partner with people who could help tell the story of the business they had worked so hard to build.

Over the past few months, that has allowed New England Free Range and Moore Pullets to develop a stronger and more consistent online presence.

Clearer messaging.

More consistent content.

Time saved.

And a brand that better reflects the quality of the business behind it.

The process also encouraged improvements beyond just social media.

Their website has continued to evolve alongside their marketing, making it easier for customers to understand who they are, what they do and what they stand for.

While it’s still early days, Jo says they’re already noticing the difference.

“We have only been working with Mallee Marketing for a few months and we already feel like we have a better online presence, with more interaction with our clients. The ladies have also encouraged us to clean up and improve our website alongside our social media.”

One of the biggest shifts has simply been having a clear plan.

Detailed monthly marketing plans, regular reviews and ongoing support have removed much of the guesswork, giving Jo and Tom confidence that their social media marketing is moving in the right direction without taking their focus away from running the business.

Looking back, Jo says one of the biggest differences has been working with people who understand the realities of agriculture and family life.

“The ladies at Mallee Marketing get it. They understand the pressure and time limitations of working on a farm and having a young family.

They work around your timeframes and the best way to be contactable.

They provide detailed monthly plans for approval so you know what the plan for the month is and can refer back to it whenever you need.

They run a very streamlined approach to social media marketing.”

Today, the New England Free Range brand better reflects the business behind it.

The same care that goes into producing quality free-range eggs is now being shared more consistently with the people buying them.

Because when you’ve spent years building a business you’re proud of, your marketing needs to tell your story, while meeting business goals and outcomes.
